About Joseph
Joseph Palazzolo was born to Sicilian-American parents in Detroit and studied piano from age 7 through college, winning various awards for his performance. He graduated with a BA from Oakland University where he studied piano under Flavio Varani, and studied organ, conducting, and composition. Palazzolo has appeared as concerto soloist with the St. Clair Shores, Warren, and Pontiac-Oakland Symphony Orchestras and continues to perform frequently in the Detroit area. Mr. Palazzolo teaches his 30 students at his home studio in Ferndale. Many of his students win or place high in competition. Joseph worked as organist and choir director from 1968 through 1999 at many different churches throughout the metro area. He is currently choir director of Grosse Pointe Unitarian church and he continues to play the organ on a freelance basis in the Detroit area. He was music director of the Troy Community Chorus from 1993 to 1996. Mr. Palazzolo has had extensive accompanying experience as well as in musical theatre. He played piano, conducted, acted, sang, and danced in many community theatre productions, and played the male lead in Kiss Me, Kate at Macomb County Community College. He was pianist for the 1994 New York production of Forbidden Broadway at the Gem Theatre in Detroit. Palazzolo shows an eclectic approach as he presents a mixture of genres laced with interesting and sometimes humorous anecdotes. His bravura playing and his interesting commentaries warmly convey to his audiences his love for the music he plays and helps him accomplish his mission: To create a world of classical music lovers Through performance and education. as of sept 2003 |
